ABOUT
Simon Marriott a writer of fiction and software living on the island of Trinidad.
Bazody Solutions is a publishing and software consultancy.
I told my dad I wanted to be a poet, as we sat in the bar at the BFI. He had a sip of his guiness, and told me to learn the web and linux. I haven’t looked back since. Within months I had done city and guilds course in web development. I was head-hunted by CNN in London to work on their web systems. My masters is in literature. That was more than ten years ago.
Since then I’ve worked on systems that allow users to publish content to millions of viewers on multiple platforms in multiple languages. I’ve done various pieces of each at CNNfn.com, CNN.com, BBCworldservice.com, BBC.co.uk, magnify.net, trinidadexpress.com and others. I work in web, video, text, audio, feeds and print. I use open source tools on UNIX like systems.
